Yes Make community workshop

The Papergarden Community Workshop was built using CLT rescued from a factory closing down in Essex. The challenge with this project was assessing the stock and assigning cut offs to wall panels according to existing sizes and grain direction. Reclaimed windows were fitted with cut-offs from the polycarbonate roofing sheet. The roof overhang is supported by a large beam and Y-branches.

MARKET HEADQUARTER –
Agbogbloshie Centre of Self-Governance

Headquarter with offices and meeting rooms for the Informal governance structure of a market in Accra, Ghana, constructed using curved, perforated rammed-earth panels developed through adjustable formwork systems. Through extensive 1:1 prototyping and physical testing, I explored how material, geometry and porosity could regulate ventilation and acoustics around a naturally ventilated central atrium.

‘de-light’ –
IMMERSIVE PAVILION

A pop-up pavilion reusing discarded foam. It reimagines the forest rave as a wellness installation, connecting community and nature through multisensory design.

‘factory of the senses’ –
Co-working / Co-living space

The Factory of the Senses explores architecture as an active communal process. It is an open plan space with moveable mountains carved out of foam that can be positioned as desired to structure the space both visually and acoustically. Building on existing spatial knowledge that London’s queer underground electronic music community shares through the spatial design of forest parties and afterhours in disused warehouse spaces, the spatial fluidity fosters relationships beyond the nuclear family, where community is based on kinship and mutual support.

ROBOTIC FABRICATION –
Flex RATTAN CANE STRUCTURE

Research with AA DLAB  into robotic fabrication of rattan bundles for a load-bearing pavilion.

We used computational simulation and 5-step fabrication to twist cane into strong modules. The structure marries organic material with precision robotics, demonstrating new sustainable build techniques.

Through the application of cutting-edge robotic fabrication processes, leveraging bundling and twisting techniques, these flexible rattan canes seamlessly coalesce to form a robust and load-bearing framework. The structure explores new building techniques with underexplored renewable resources.
